XLStobo is honoured to represent the World Renowned Chinese Director and Choreographer, Mr Chen Weiya. As the Executive Director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, Mr Chen's work was seen by millions of people around the world. In 2009, Mr Chen worked as the executive director with the Chinese film director Zhang Yimou to restage the Giacomo Puccini opera "Turandot" at Beijing Bird's Nest stadium in October 2009. This is the second time the two greatest Chinese directors worked on "Turandot" since 1998 and the performance toured Europe in 2005, visiting Paris, Munich and Gelsenkirchen.
Chen Weiya, executive director of "Turandot 2009 Beijing" said, "The idea to make a new "Turandot" was raised during the Olympics last year. It is, after all, 11 years since its last performance at the Forbidden City in 1998. We decided to present a new "Turandot" which is less dependent on its environment, more concise, and features considerable multimedia devices. It is a modern production.
